Ms.A.Bhuvaneshwari, Intern
B.Tech (Horticulture) 2016, TNAU

"Agriculture is the life for all human beings. Not only for humans, have all living things depended on agriculture." "Soil is the soul of agriculture." But our soil has been spoiling due to inorganic methods. Some people do agriculture only for high yield; they are not caring about soil health. If this situation continues, we will beg for food from other countries in future. It is the correct time to create awareness about Organic farming. Otherwise we will be the last generation in doing agriculture!. Past is past, even now if we do organic farming, and If we use organic products, we can achieve healthy organic country like Russia.

ORGANIC FARMING
by
Ms. Praveena.M, Intern
B.Tech (Horticulture) 2016, TNAU

In our day to day life knowingly or unknowingly we are consuming harmful chemicals In the name of food. Even if we are aware of this and thinking of avoiding this, our laziness and our busy life is not allowing us to do so... Our farmers should concentrate in using organic farming to prevent our soil health to be fine for future farming. The inorganic fertilizer which we use will mix with the proteins present in the food. When we consume it will cause many deficiency and disease. The effect of consuming the inorganic fertilizer will be realised only after 40 years for human being. There are many organic products available. We are in a situation to make use of it to give a healthy life for the present and the future generation. In order to have a change we don’t want to depend on others. We can start it from our home level through kitchen gardening with using only organic products to save our health. As we know, prevention is better than cure try to save our future by preventing the effect by caring our health in present..

WHETHER WE ARE LEADING A HEALTHY LIFE????
by
Ms.Nandhini.C, Intern
B.Tech (Horticulture) 2016, TNAU

People surviving in this generation have a blind belief that moving in a costly vehicle, living in a bungalow, working in a private sector or any secured job as a life of joy and happiness. By turning their surrounding through an artificial landscape they have lost the peacefulness in the natural landscape which was experienced by our elder generation. We are living a happy and a luxury life without any peace. Each and every individual of this present generation realise this bitter truth when this artificial landscape push them to a threatening situation.

The core idea I have depicted in this picture is even in the dusk the natural landscape give immense pleasure, joy and peace. Whereas even in the dawn the artificial landscape give a dull feel.

The present generation is ready to survive, to study, to work, even to get treatment in a pollution filled environment. Without breathing the natural air what is the use in getting treatment. The health of our generation and our future generation lies in our hand. Try to plant more trees to make our life.

 INDOOR SALAD GARDENING
Ms.Sangeetha Hariprakash M.Sc.,(IT)
COO -  Logic Research Labs (Software Research & Development )

All of us like to own a garden and eat healthy food from our own garden, but everyone feels we have no space, no land and no time to grow vegetable. Do you want your  home to be  filled with greens within 10 days in the living area? Then the right choice is soil sprouted greens don’t worry about space, you can grow a jar of sprouts in your kitchen countertop itself. We can get Nutrient-dense, Soil Sprouted Greens in less than 10 days. You can create a productive garden indoors. You don’t need much light to green up soil sprouts. Any room with window is fine for soil sprouts. You can harvest small amount every day within a minutes before you cook. You don’t need storage. Planting a little everyday is very easy and your house filled with greens all over the year. It is great to see greens growing around the house and kitchen.

Rinse and soak your beans/seeds overnight in a bowl or jar. Now you just add dampened soil to the tray about 1 inch thick. Next add your soaked seeds by sprinkling them all over the soil in the tray. Make the newspaper about 3 to four layers or cotton clothes and lay it on top of the seeds to keep the seed moist. Then use the plastic wrap and cover the entire unit. After 3 days, take off the plastic cover and newspaper and set your sprout tray in sunny window so they turn green. You can harvest your sprouts in about 8-10 days. Now the sprout is ready to harvest from your kitchen which is fresher and tastier and cost effective.

Growing soil sprouts in your house refreshes the air with oxygen. Sprouts are perfect raw food, no cooking is required, all the nutrients of the same seeds cooked are present in the green sprouts. Sprout leaves fight against diseases.

A huge variety of seeds can easily be grown to eat as sprouts including grains, pea, chick pea, mung beans, channa, fenugreek, spinach, nuts  etc. Each has its own unique flavour.

Now everyone can become a garden owner by growing Sprouts.

SHIP DESIGN AND OPERATION SOFTWARE IN INDIA

Dr. Muniyandy ELANGOVAN, M.Eng, Dr.Eng
Maritime consultant (Naval Architect)

Man has always been fascinated by the vast expanse of water called the sea. In his quest to explore the same, many ships have been built and many voyage taken. Ship design and operation is as old as mankind and Indians are known to have assembled planks of wood into a ship hull as far back as 3000 BC and trading was all over the world.

Ship building is an all-encompassing term and goes beyond the usual ships to also include complex submarines, naval vessels, cruise ships, etc. Given the relevance of ships in maritime trade, economy and security, ship building has always been a dynamic and lucrative industry.

Ship design, building and operation are a challenging and interesting domain and calls for sound knowledge and technical expertise. In step with evolving technologies, many software solutions have been developed to simplify this rather intriguing process which is a fine balance of design, hydrodynamics and simulation.

GreenSHIP is one such indigenous company and the first in India to venture into this hitherto unexplored domain of designing and developing software solutions exclusively for the maritime industry. Started by a team of visionary entrepreneurs, the company looks to scale beyond the local roots and reach great global heights.
