MUTUALISM OF PLANTS AND HUMANS
by
Ms.Bhavani Sugumaran, Intern
B.Tech (Horticulture) 2016

Garden is the instrument of grace. The relationship between people and plants are profoundly important.  One day I was totally confused with some personal problems. I went to garden for a class and we started doing field works. I took secateurs and started to prune the unwanted and diseased leaves from plants. After doing that I felt very light and relaxed. I got a clear idea about my decision. This shows the intimate relationship between plants and humans. Finally I conclude with famous quote of Mohandas k Gandhi: To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves...

HUMAN RELATIONSHIP WITH PLANTS
by
Ms.Divya, Intern
B.Tech (Horticulture) 2016, TNAU

I do not know why plants come out of the land or float in streams, or creep on rocks, or roll from the sea. I am entranced by the mystery of them and absorbed by their variety and kinds. When I was frustrated I entered into the garden. While seeing plants I feel very pleasant. The greenery of the plants gave me a thought of universal symbol of peace. The flowers in plants reflect love, softness and kindness. I feel the music of plants when it is swinging in air it enlightens my heart. This shows the relationship of humans with plants.

CONNECTION BETWEEN THE LIFE OF FLORA AND HOMOSAPIENS
by
Ms. Nandhini, Intern
B.Tech (Horticulture) 2016, TNAU

As we all know plants play a major role In our day to day life, even In the food we consume, even as a medicine to cure our illness, even In the purpose of beautifying the place we live. The whole World looks very idle and ugly without the presence of plants. They have a special property or uniqueness in removing our sorrows, pain and to rectify our problems. No life in this World can exist without the presence of plants. The aesthetic value of plants gives a sense of joy and happiness.

This picture is a type of garden which heals a normal person especially the clients of horticulture therapy at different aspects.

Nothing in the tree has something which gives a beautiful feel when we sit on a bench in the middle of an arboretum at the time of their resting period. It is not the tree without leaves It is the trees with lots of branches to admire at. Likewise each and every aspect of plants rules us every day in making our day a pleasant one.

Life is bed of roses with thorns. Enjoy the sweetness of life by wiping away your negative thoughts, only then u can search your hidden life...

PLANTS IMPACT ON HUMANS
by
Ms.B.Vishudharani, Intern
B.Tech (Horticulture) 2016, TNAU

Starting from breathing humans and plants are interlinked. In those days, plants are directly used as a medicine like garlic has the effect to control stomach ache while tridax plant have the capacity to stop blood oozing out. This shows that plants surely have the capacity to heal the organs and sense organs. So, when you are depressed or tensed entering a garden or cultivable land will change your inner mind. The transformation of your mind is caused by the plant. That’s why many corporate are mainly concentrating towards landscaping in front of their garden. So, I conclude that really plants have really the positive effect on humans.

  Agriculture from Childhood
Ms.Sangeetha Hariprakash M.Sc.,(IT)
COO -  Logic Research Labs (Software Research & Development )

Nowadays our lives merged with the latest technology and we all are living in the challenging environment and everyone is tied up with social media and communication increases globally. Each and every one having mobile phones, and thought it's our right hand. Everyone feels happy when our child talks and learns about the growing technology. How many of them teaches and question our kids where we get the food and where the food comes from? It is our major duty to teach our children the basic concept of agriculture and health conscious from their childhood itself. Technology and money is not an asset. The major asset we are going to give our next generation is  healthier food and disease free environment. Without healthier food how can one be smart and talented? We are all running like a horse in a single line. If we are running like this we have to spend money for oxygen and water in future. Does money give us  healthy and longer life? NO, We have to protect our future, and our next generation by teaching them the concept of agriculture from the childhood itself. In this challenging environment, agricultural education, particularly school - based programs will persistently play a vital role in the success and prosperity of humankind. Agricultural production and processing involves in all aspects of our daily life including clothing, diets, recreation and work option.

School Based Agriculture

We have to educate our children where the food comes from to live. By teaching  the concept of agriculture  in two levels.

1. Elementary school level
At School level they have to learn about the natural resources and how plants and animals grow and how soil is formed and preserved. School based garden is very important. Special classes related to agriculture should be conducted weekly ones. Teachers should organize farm tours every year. Educational institution should allot a ground to students for growing vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, lady's finger, brinjal etc., inside the campus and also encourage students to pour water and monitor each stage of the growth and create interest to intake more different veggies. Project related to agriculture should give to the students. Encourage each kid to plant a tree every year. Teach kids important things about nutrition - like how and what you eat impacts how you feel. Get kids trying more kind of veggies.

 2. College level
At the college level they have to learn about Horticulture, Land management, Livestock management and train people in rural areas and do research in agriculture.

“In order to solve the fundamental real world issues, especially hunger globally, each and every one should involve in agriculture.”

Fuel Saving in a SHIP
Dr. Muniyandy ELANGOVAN, M.Eng, Dr.Eng
Maritime consultant (Naval Architect)

To operate a ship, running cost is a major expense and fuels itself 70% out of all. Every single percentage saving can bring few thousand dollars to ship owners.  Now a day, many regulations are coming from IMO to reduce co2 emission, which directly insists to reduce an operational costs. Let us see what are options can be considered to save fuel.
1. Propulsion system:
2. On board Equipment:
3. Technology into propulsion system and on board equipment
4. Voyage optimization
5. Use of renewable energy

Above topics cover major fuel savings, and detail study/research is necessary to achieve the targeted fuel saving. Instead of follow or obey the order from government or IMO, every ship owner has to come forward to reduce the fuels' consumption considering the future generation to have health life.
